Jerry Sags accepts the challenge of MMA fighter Jason Pharo
February 27, 2008
Talking exclusively to KocoSports.com, professional wrestler Jerry Sags, a multiple time co-holder of the world tag-team championship in WWE, WCW & NWA Florida, has stated that he is accepting the open challenge of MMA fighter “Green Dragon” Jason Pharo.
“I respect MMA” said Sags, who is best known as one half of “The Nasty Boys” with partner Brian Knobbs “I don’t get where this guy gets off disrespecting our business, I have friends who have died doing what we do, families missing husbands, fathers & brothers and this guy is going to disrespect them, who they were and how they earned their living, well that pisses me off and I’m ready to rip this guys face off.”
“I gladly accept the challenge” Sags continued, “in fact I’d never really heard of this Pharo guy until I read the story about him on KocoSports.com”
“Logically I’d like to get some time to train with my coach Brad Riggins up in Minnesota, who you guys might know was in Brock Lesnar’s corner, I’d love to get in a solid month with Don Frye out in Arizona as well…but I’m just so angry, Pharo has pissed me off so much I feel like walking in there tomorrow and fighting him.”
“The first thing we were taught when we broke into the wrestling business was respect, and we were originally schooled in Greco-roman style wrestling to learn the origins of the game, so I respect other sports and the athletes who compete in them. That’s why, when I hear this guy disrespect our business, I decided that I was going to be the guy to step up.”
When asked by KocoSports.com if he felt that loosing in an MMA fight would hurt his reputation in wrestling Sags said, “Honestly, is it a concern? Perhaps a little, but I believe in this business, I love this business, I’m willing to take that risk, to put my body and reputation on the line, if it means getting even one shot at Pharo and teaching him what respect is all about”
